I'm Connor Owen, founder of ScanBand. I'm an 18-year-old D1 soccer player for Columbia and former San Jose Earthquakes Academy (MLS Next) player. I wasn't the strongest or the fastest. But I obsessed over the mental side of the game, and specifically scanning. And things started to change.

As my scanning improved, so did my game. I got invited to national team camps and all-star games, and was recruited to the Quakes. Coaches recognized my awareness and decision-making.

Top D1 schools recruited me, and I committed to play at Columbia. Time and again, coaches said it was my field vision and reading of the game that set me apart.

The problem

Scanning was hard to improve. There was no tangible way to train it or measure it. I watched teammates who wanted to get better but didn't know how.

The solution

At 12, I invented and licensed the Bookie Cushion, now sold at Barnes & Noble and Walmart. I combined my skills in soccer and entrepreneurship to build the ScanBand: a way to train and measure the skill that changed my game.
