The First Soccer Wearable That Trains Field Vision

ScanBand detects when you check your shoulder and vibrates when you're not scanning, helping you build elite awareness in real time.

  • Detects your scans & buzzes
    when you don't
  • Gives you real-time feedback
    while you play
  • Like a coach on your head reminding you to scan until it becomes instinct
Get Yours

Simple.

ScanBand has two parts:

  • A rechargeable vibrating pod. The pod knows when your head turns. When you're scanning like Messi, it's happy; when you're not, it vibrates to remind you.
  • A high-quality, washable headband. The headband's stitched-in compartment holds the pod, which slides out easily for charging

Effective.

Michael Casper, Columbia University Head Coach

"Top players see the field & make faster decisions. ScanBand is the first tool to train these skills in real play. It's game-changing!"

- Michael Casper, Columbia University Head Coach

Game-Changing.

The world's best players seem to have eyes in the back of their head. They always know where teammates and opponents are. That's because they scan!

Scanning changes your game, giving you a mental map of the field, more time on the ball, quicker speed of play, and better decisions.

Why I Created ScanBand.

I'm Connor Owen, a 17-year-old D1 soccer player for Columbia and former San Jose Earthquakes Academy (MLS Next) player. I've always loved two things: creating and soccer.

When I was 12, I invented the Bookie Cushion, a bookmark that doubles as a whoopee cushion. I balanced the project with school and soccer. I made prototypes, had it manufactured, and eventually licensed it to Fred & Friends. It's now sold at places like Barnes & Noble and Walmart.

I was a solid soccer player at the time, but never the best player. I was on the B team at my old club. I wanted to level up. I knew I wasn't the strongest or the fastest. But I obsessed over the mental side of the game, and specifically scanning. And things started to change.

National Recognition

I got invited to national team camps and all-star games.

College Recruitment

I was recruited by top D1 schools and committed to Columbia. Coaches consistently pointed to my field awareness and decision-making.

The Problem

As valuable as scanning was for me, it was one of the hardest things for me to improve. I noticed my teammates wanted to improve but struggled.

The Idea

That's when I realized I could combine my two passions, soccer and creating.

And the ScanBand was born.

As a Division 1 player who went through the recruiting process, I'm sharing the spreadsheet that helped me stay organized.

I used it to track my outreach to coaches, keep contact info in one place, and take notes throughout the process.
